Mental Health Therapist
Hey y’all, I’m Alex. I grew up in the Deep South, but I’ve called New Mexico home for nearly 10 years. My own experiences navigating queer identity and chronic illness led me to pursue social work and shaped the way I approach therapy today. Much of my work has centered around supporting people in my community as they navigated chronic illness and physical disability, from connecting people with resources to helping them reimagine what their futures could look like. I’ve also worked in mental health and nonprofit settings focused on community health and health equity, and outside of work I am involved in volunteering and advocacy. I earned my master’s degree in Social Work from New Mexico Highlands University. I’m passionate about research and continued learning, which guide me in providing care that is thoughtful, affirming, and grounded in each person’s unique experiences. I work with adults from all backgrounds, with particular interest in supporting LGBTQ+ people, neurodivergent people, and people living with chronic illness, chronic pain, or disability. My therapeutic approach is trauma-informed, collaborative, and non-judgmental. I work from a systems perspective, meaning I recognize that our relationships, environments, identities, and life experiences all shape how we move through the world. I believe therapy should be tailored to each individual person and their specific needs, values, and goals. I strive to create a space where clients feel safe, understood, and able to be their authentic selves. Our work together could involve processing difficult experiences, exploring identity, building coping skills, strengthening relationships, or simply feeling less alone. I look forward to working alongside you as you move toward the things you want for yourself.
