Vanessa C. Medina,
LCSW
Mental Health Therapist
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Hello, I’m Vanessa. I was born and raised in Taos, New Mexico, and my personal journey has played a big role in shaping who I am as a clinician today. I was adopted at age 11 after spending time in foster care, and that experience sparked a deep passion within me to support children, families, and individuals navigating their own challenges. It’s what ultimately inspired me to become a social worker and dedicate my career to helping others heal, grow, and thrive.
I earned my Bachelor of Political Science with a Law Emphasis, as well as my Bachelor of Social Work, from New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas, New Mexico. I later continued my studies there and completed my Master of Social Work with Magna Cum Laude honors — an achievement that reflects my commitment to learning, advocacy, and clinical excellence.
For more than a decade, I’ve worked in child welfare, mental health therapy, and school social work, supporting families, children, adolescents, young adults, and adults through some of their most difficult moments. My background includes extensive experience with childhood trauma, adoption, foster care, abuse, and family systems. I also have knowledge and experience working with neurodivergent populations, including individuals with ADHD and Autism, across both school-aged and adult stages of life.
My therapeutic approach is holistic, incorporating mind, body, and spirit. I believe healing happens when individuals feel safe, supported, and empowered, so I strive to create a serene and nurturing environment where clients can explore their emotions, strengthen their resilience, develop self-understanding, and work toward their mental health goals.
Outside of my clinical work, I love learning and growing both personally and professionally. I enjoy traveling, spending time with my dogs, and taking them on car rides — something that brings me a lot of joy and peace.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know me. I look forward to supporting you on your journey toward healing, balance, and self-discovery.
