Vanessa C. Medina,
LCSW
Mental Health Therapist
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Hello, I’m Vanessa. I was born and raised in Taos, New Mexico, and my personal journey has played a big role in shaping who I am as a clinician today. I was adopted at age 11 after spending time in foster care, and that experience sparked a deep passion within me to support children and families navigating their own challenges. It’s what ultimately inspired me to become a social worker and dedicate my career to helping others heal and thrive.
I earned my Bachelor of Political Science with a Law Emphasis, as well as my Bachelor of Social Work, from New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas, NM. I later continued my studies there and completed my Master of Social Work with Magna Cum Laude honors — an achievement that reflects my commitment to learning, advocacy, and clinical excellence.
For more than a decade, I’ve worked in child welfare and school social work, supporting families, children, adolescents, and adults through some of their most difficult moments. My background includes extensive experience with childhood trauma, and I have a deep understanding of the needs of adopted children, teens, and adults who are survivors of trauma and abuse.
My therapeutic approach is holistic, incorporating mind, body, and spirit. I believe healing happens when individuals feel safe, supported, and empowered, so I strive to create a serene and nurturing environment where clients can explore their emotions, strengthen their resilience, and work toward their mental health goals.
Outside of my clinical work, I love learning and growing both personally and professionally. I enjoy traveling, spending time with my dogs, and taking them on car rides — something that brings me a lot of joy and peace.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know me. I look forward to supporting you on your journey toward healing, balance, and self-discovery.
